Halcyon Days

Funnily enough, this all started in the 1960's with family holidays to Cornwall, halcyon days in my memory... Sitting around Cornish harbours with crab lines but never catching anything, but still getting a crab sandwich from somewhere. The beaches in Cornwall are some of the best in the world, with azure blue waters. The only fly in the ointment can be the weather, but with global warming temperatures in the summer can easily be in the 30's C.
Getting to Cornwall in the 60's took at least 8 to 9 hours which meant getting up about 2 AM, me and my brother asleep on the back seat of our old Ford Consul. My parents, map in hand navigating country roads with very few signs to help us on our way. Holiday life was a wooden caravan in Coverack with a lovely little harbour that doubled as a swimming pool for us and a place for fishing boats to haul up at night. One place your felt you had to visit was Lands' End; not a great deal to see and selling basic Cornish pasties in those days, and now that has been moved against Mother Nature's will to a far bigger tourist trap.
Been back many times over the years and this county never fails to disappoint...
